The music without an in-game reference is sort of pointless to me.

your comment sparked a thought for me. Have you ever played Bastion? I hadnt till a few years ago. A musician I really like talked about the soundtrack for the game. I gave it a listen, bought it, and loved it so much that I actually ended up playing the game. It is now one of my favorite games of all time. Just a ramble, goodnight to you sir

Edited by FairlySplendid: 7/15/2013 9:26:12 PMLULZ. I guess you've never been to a VGL performance. Point of reference: http://www.youtube.com/channel/HCHI8tbpkYKd0

Even still, it doesn't effect me the same if I am watching someone else play the game and music comes on. I want to know the story that led up to that moment of dramatic music, and I want to be playing the game while it comes on. Just hearing it and seeing it isn't enough for me to care about the music.

I gotcha. Nonetheless, you'd would be surprised how moving it is to hear video game music performed live. You feel the music literally in your bones. I will say though, that the VGL experience varies greatly from venue to venue and year to year. This one ls stacking up to be particularly nice.
