Because a black guy would have been convicted, if you don't think that's the case then you're in denial.

  • I'd say the real reason he wasn't convicted is because there's not sufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the man was guilty. If that weren't the case, and we convicted people because we were pretty sure they were guilty, we'd have the grounds to oppress people all the time. Sorry, but if Casey -blam!-ing Anthony can kill her little baby and get away with it because of a few technicalities, what chance would the Zimmerman trial have? I think manslaughter is the least they could have done, but they're not going to because despite all the controversy, and all the alleged proof that it was set up, or Zimmerman was out of line, there is no way to definitively prove it. What any American Citizen needs to take away from this is a question: "Would you rather see 10 guilty men walk free, or 1 innocent man in jail?" Once you have your answer, you need to decide if the current system is the best one, and if it isn't, you need to do something about it. Personally... The system isn't perfect, but it's better than anything else I can think of. Until somebody comes up with a better way of doing things, it's what we've got. I refuse to support a state that imprisons and/or executes innocent people, and though I'm not claiming he was innocent, nor can I confidently say he was not. Thus, he is free until we prove otherwise.
