Spec Ops: The Line.
Seriously, why hasn't everyone played this game?

2 things. 1. The demo sucked. 2. More people play for game play than story.
2. More people play for game play than story.
Your opinion on this is noted. Please continue to enjoy CoD...
-
So you think CoD has good gameplay?
-
Not at all. For me, the word 'gameplay' differs to 'mechanics' (which are certainly solid in CoD); but since the inference by his statement was that game play was separate to story (I don't believe it is), CoD was the best example of a game that had good 'game play' (by the inferred meaning) that lacked story.

I don't like Call of Duty nor do I play it. Did I even say I don't play for story because I certainly do or I wouldn't have played metal gear solid 2, 3, and 4.

You're statement inferred a personal position in the negative; you gave 2 arguments against why people didn't play the game. I took issue with your second assertion inferring a separation of gameplay from story. I consider gameplay to be more than just mechanics. CoD was an example of a game that had a weak story but strong mechanics. If you enjoyed the gameplay of Metal Gear Solid 2, 3 and 4, one might assume you're talking about more than just the mechanics of the game. If that is the case, then why make a statement inferring separation of these factors in the first place..?

The story was very good. It was a very intense game. The multiplayer was a disappointment to me but I loved the single player.

I avoided this game for quite some time because I assumed it was a ripoff of CoD. But I read that it is actually a powerful story-driven game. So I picked it up recently, and have yet to play it. Sounds like I should start it.

The game mechanics are solid, but fairly typical of cover based shooters - nothing to rave about. In this respect, your concerns about it being a clone are not unfounded. The story and progression of events during the game, will (should) change the way you think about the approach to war based FPS..
-
If the game could end in the beginning it would have changed my perspective. But you are 100% forced to continue into the city encountering unavoidable scripted event's.

Agreed, it was an experience I never thought I would have with a shooter.
