You realize that Nintendo makes games for kids right? They aren't hand holding for you but for your little siblings. I enjoy that Nintendo keeps the way they have always been. They are the last company left not trying to appeal to the hardcore audience and cinematic games and such.
They see themselves as a Toy Company. They want that appeal and I don't mind it as a matter of fact I love it.
I enjoy that Nintendo keeps the way they have always been.
Have you played any of their older games? Most of the games before the Wii, but specifically older generations including the Gameboy and N64, had little to no interruptions to explain how to play the game.

Pfft how old do you think I am? My first console was a SNES and I went and got a NES and played those games. I've played every Nintendo console to date. Excluding Wii U I'm getting that in a few weeks though. One thing you cannot say is that Nintendo doesn't make fun games. Make all the complaints you want; when you have a Nintendo console in your hand and you are playing a First Party game from Nintendo it's a unique feeling of Pure unadulterated fun that you can only get when playing a Nintendo console. The experiences are unique and great. There's no doubting it. All the complains of conforming to the norm and how they don't change; get a console in your hand and play one of their games. You will lose hours and not worry about any of the 'issues' and just enjoy the game.

Edited by HurtfulTurkey: 7/3/2013 9:41:15 PMI mentioned a specific example: Skyward Sword. Two nights in a row I've had to shut the Wii off in frustration over the sloppy motion controls and annoyance from Fi (the ubiquitous guide character in seemingly every modern Nintendo game) constantly restating what happened in a cutscene, explaining what exactly I need to do, etc. It takes the wonder and exploration out of a game when I constantly have to be reminded that it's exactly what I'm doing: playing a game. IMO, motion controls cripple Skyward Sword. It's a fun Zelda game where every puzzle is replaced with smashing you over the head with using a particular motion, nearly enemy flaunts the ability to block, and the game itself has to be more accommodating because of those controls (start with 6 hearts? Two save points in seemingly every room? Fairies all over the place?). I'm sorry we disagree, but you claiming "One thing you cannot say is that Nintendo doesn't make fun games" just shows you have no clue what I'm trying to convey. This thread is specifically in response to not enjoying modern Nintendo games.

Go play Modern Warfare. Yeah, Call of Duty, but with a Zapper and free multiplayer it's actually pretty good. Easier to use the sniper rifle at the very least (who breaths like that? )
