They should bring gladiators back.

Just saying. Criminals could be punished (possibly by death), while actually having a fighting chance. What say you?

  • Sure, but what happens if they are so good at killing people that they break out? Should we keep lions or something to stop them?

    • Think of the the money the government would get if they brought this back. Yes, it's glorifying killing, and with all justice systems, there's going to be someone who isn't supposed to be in there, but there would be several upsides, in my opinion, to bringing Gladiators back. 1. More revenue for the government: If the federal government were to regulate this, and built coliseums and the like, they could charge prices for entry (say, $10 bucks for a days worth of fights, maybe more, who knows?), charge prices for concessions, etc. etc. We'd get more cash inflow, which could help gain control of our spiraling debt. 2. It would deter major crime: Obviously, petty thieves would not be forced into the coliseum, because their offense is minor. But for murder and other seriously heinous crimes where the penalty can be 25 to life, I think many people would be deterred from wanting to kill someone in the first place. Why kill someone, then be forced into fighting for your life for the rest of your days? 3. It's another option: Don't want to have the death penalty? Here's another outlet. Fight until you die. Some people might prefer that over instant death. 4. It doesn't have to be just criminals: All out of money? No place to go? Join up and fight as a gladiator! Even back in ancient Rome, the gladiators would be fed and get housing, and with todays luxuries such as mattresses and consistently hot food, a lot of homeless people might prefer fighting for their lives in the arena than on the streets. Plus, there were pay-outs, and some gladiators won their freedom, so if a homeless person-turned-gladiator did well enough, they could earn their freedom and some money. All things considered, I'd totally order it on pay-per-view to watch. Humans dig this, I'm no exception. Plus, I loved the tv show, Spartacus, when I could watch it on netflix. The fights were intense.

    • I agree, but letting a murderer murder someone then get out of jail for it doesn't make sense, cause then he's going to go murder more people because he just got the taste for it back after being imprisoned for it.
