Well yeah you interjected and made her say something that was rude back because you made it a bit awkward. If you just rolled with it and said it was a date, she might have just agreed because she saw your confidence, and another hint, take an extra minute or two to text back sometimes. It comes off as needy when you reply back really quickly so often
