Arkham City was also more of the same, and that was good. In terms of change, as far as I can tell, Origins is to City as City was to Asylum. Bigger play area, a few new features, little worse narrative, overall still jam packed with Batmanny goodness fanservice. Only gripes I have are: -Joker is in the game -Batman's voice

 • Joker is awesome. Probably the best Batman villain. Why is that a gripe?

 • When I think of DC assassins capable of killing Batman, Joker does NOT come to mind. The only story I can think of where Joker is hired as an assassin is Under the Red Hood, and even then Joker quickly gets made a *****. He was sort of an option of last resort for Black Mask. How is Joker going to fit into the story? Batman is investigating why Black Mask wants to kill him and Joker just appears to troll him? What is the point?

 • Because every Batman everything doesn't have to have Joker and shoehorning him in just because he's the most popular villain to cater to the people who don't know any other Batman villains is lazy and will damage an otherwise fine narrative. He's a crutch, essentially. He's already been the star of two Arkham games. He's played his part in the Arkham series and there's no need to force him in where he doesn't belong other than the fact they know he sells. We've had enough Joker and there's no good reason to have him in this game from a gameplay or story standpoint. But they've put him in anyway because they think or they think the audience thinks that a Batman story cannot exist without Joker.

 • I agree that he's been in the limelight enough, but I don't think most fans think that Batman needs Joker. I mean, the Nolan Batman franchise proves that you can still make successful movies with a wide viewership without him. But I just now finished AC and Joker can't be in Origins because of the way he went out.
You can't kill a villain and a character that's as much a part of Batman as Batman himself in an emotion way like that and just have him be alive again in the next game like nothing happened. Batman "loved" Joker so much he just forgot about Talia and carried Joker's body out of Arkham City. I know it's a prequel, but it didn't release that way so fans have already experienced Joker's death. To go back is just weird.
• Who cares? He might not be the main villain this time. How come you aren't getting mad that bane is in there? He has already been in the other Arkham games.

 • I'm not getting mad, though. Plus Bane was hardly a main character.
