I still don't want to pay an extra $100 for a Kinect that I don't want.
Yup. It's 2013 and I have still yet to own, use, or know anyone that has owned (irl) a kinect. Don't want it, don't care about it, would be more willing to get an X1 if you could take the kinect out and lower the price accordingly.

All of my agreement is being pointed in your general direction right now.

Is that what you kids call it?

totally fair. personally, i love having/using the Kinect, but plenty of people don't.

I don't see why they are making it something you HAVE to buy. If they sold it separately they would sell so many more units.

because they're making it an integral part of their OS. it knows how many players there are by seeing controllers, it knows who is holding which controller by matching faces to gamertags, etc. not to mention the voice integration is supposed to be a ton better now. so yeah, it's not just a gimmick now, it's actually designed to make many aspects of the old interface much better and more automatic.

Like I've said before, we're living in an Orwellian nightmare we just don't know it yet.

Kinect is something I have a lot of respect for. It's not something that I really want, but I've used it, and it can be a lot of fun and the motion-sensing is really good. It's a proof-of-concept for what games should ultimately be: Virtual Reality. Seriously, where's my VR? Where's my goddamn holodeck, man?
