  • He fails to recognize that in order for a massive used game market to flourish, there has to be a massive amount of new buyers in the first place. Game sellers aren't gonna make two versions of the same game and label one of them used for 55 bucks instead of 60. If there was a huge amount of Used Copies for Halo 3, that means there was a huge amount of people buying Halo 3 new. Why should Bungie care if one guy gets the game a couple of bucks cheaper than new when they already benefited from the sale of that copy? Protip: They don't care. Anyone who says Used Games are ruining the industry is over exaggerating the negatives of Used Games while trying to avoid the positives.

  • I liked the bit where you asked a question and answered it yourself the most! But yeah, is it that hard to conceive the concept that two people buying the same copy of a game = $60 profit rather than $120. Bungie is probably one of the worst examples you could use for used games anyway since they are so big and pretty damn successful. Even then they are just starting up their own MMOish game that is bound to have lots of DLC to monetise it. But yeah, for small-time developers? Used games are teh deeveel.

Well for small time developers, I would say that depending on their own creation they would be shooting themselves in the foot. If they make a piss poor game that wasn't going to sell good anyways than there's no point in even arguing on used games since their game wasn't good enough for people to buy new in the first place. If the game was a out of the park success and it sells like hot cakes in the initial release then they already have more than enough to fund their next project.

  • Not every game can be successful like that... It's just not possible. This is like people's dreams and passions we're talking about here, so, yeah.

  • But you can't blame the used game market cause a new game by a new developer flopped.

  • If they did I shit job and it's riddled with glitches, sure. But how many games can you honestly say failed on that stuff alone? It's not about being the biggest hit, it's just about, I don't know... Making what game you want and being successful with that. I don't even know what else to say, honestly :/
