And that money that Gamestop makes goes into running the store, buying shipments of new games from the publishers when they come out....and so on and so on. And how do you factor in how many of those said used game purchases are from [i]ancient[/i] games or game consoles like the NES or the original Playstation, hmm? A great many used games are games that are no longer available in regular stores anymore or anywhere [i]but[/i] video game stores like Gamestop.

compared to the amount gaming as a whole makes? that's nothing when compared to the amounts that the publishers/developers are getting each year.

Edited by M37h3w3: 6/20/2013 8:49:02 AMI was actually wrong on that. It's nearly $2 billion. An EA alone is getting 'only' $4.14 billion. And yes that $2 billion is split between all the publishers, but that still ends up being a pretty penny. And it just gets worse the smaller you go in size. EA can eat a hit and still keep going because they are big.

but you also forget they also factor in old games as well, so how much are the devs REALLY loosing out? probably a couple hundred thousand on a new game's sales, and how many fans who will buy the next installment new are they getting from an older good game?
