The Glimmer is now confirmed as currency or upgrade points. If its either, hopefully they'll implement a trading system so we can spread the love I.e. if a Hunter has all the weapons he needs and gets an SMG or extra currency, it can be donated or traded to, say, a low level Warlock, making the squad as a whole much more deadly.

That is good to hear I saw the upgrade abilities when I was watching it live, also I love your ideas they will make the sniper units much more deadly.
