Aaand here is is failing to understand that companies such as Game and Gamestop will push used copies over new ones. If you bring a new copy up to the desk the employees there are instructed to try and persuade you to grab a used copy instead and considering the mentality of your average gamer they'll pick up the used copy over the new one when this happens almost every time. I mean, this isn't really a problem for Nintendo since developers always throw out low budget shovelware for their platform and as long as they break even they're good. However for other platforms whose games are typically much more expensive to produce, used game sales hurt a lot more.

Never once has a Gamestop employee told me to buy used when i bring a game up to the counter, not saying it couldn't happen, but I don't think it's that common.

  • It's corporate policy and standard procedure. I've worked retail before and I know that corporate policy isn't always carried out, but the stores who don't carry it out are a minority.
