all I can do is agree.
Last generation I was in the middle of High School. So I had to make a choice. I loved (still do) Halo, and Fable (admittedly I wished for a Blinx 2) so I went with the Xbox 360. Prior to this I had an Xbox, and a PS2, but this time I only could invest in one.
This generation I am working in my desired field, and I graduate this summer/fall from college. I already decided I want to buy both systems (as well as WiiU if it makes it to 2014) for exclusives. I don't want to miss anything this generation if I can afford to. I don't understand the mindset (if you have the monetary back up) to only be loyal to one brand.
I mean, if you go to a Baskin Robin's 31 Flavors you probably don't get the same flavor every time, because you are allowed options. I think if you can financially have options with gaming, you should take that course.
For now though I am bending my wallet to Destiny, and since the majority of my important friends are getting a PS4 for now, I am also going to get a PS4 first.

The reason for "loyalty" is that people like me lacking of funds to get both. We have to choose one or the other simply because we can't afford all of them. It would be nice if I could, but unfortunately I don't have a lot of money to get either of these or the "PC Master Race"

My only loyalty is to myself and my friends.

I understand making a choice for which system you think will give you more bang for your buck. I meant loyalty. Not "loyalty". You made a choice, but I assume you aren't so fanboy/girlish that you always choose one brand only even if you COULD afford both or all. I don't understand loyalties in that regard like Nintendo stabbed your father, and Sony kicked you in the teeth one day.
-
I see it now, and I can't seem to understand that loyalty either. Quite frankly, the way I see it both consoles have some great qualities and some shit ones too. I don't see how anyone can be so zealous about consoles at all when basically there is no superior console, just what fits your needs and preferences.

yeah, I understand making a choice though. I chose Xbox 360 in High School. Now I don't have to choose, but I think I am going to hold off on Xbox One for about a year, I want to see how things go. Microsoft has enough money to float even with these bad sales forecast. I think we could see something awesome, so I will have patience for Halo, and other exclusives I want.

Edited by ROFL Wolf1254: 6/14/2013 9:35:10 PMA very wise move my friend. As for myself, I'm not pledging allegiance to any console just yet. I'm going to be doing some very thorough research on both in all aspects, like games and features and compare the two. My main concern is Destiny and I'd like to get the best experience possible. Hope to see you on either one! :)

I absolutely agree with not understanding the "loyalty" to one game system. I CAN understand the concerns of people regarding the "principle" of not wanting to buy the Xbox One, but I also feel that it is a bit of wanting to keep things how they are. I'm a "brick and mortar", old-school guy by heart. I love to have a tangible item in my hands, and I love the smell of a new instruction book when they're more than a one page Warranty description. However, I have to admit that the future is digital, and we'll most likely be completely digital by the end of this console generation. We're also an online world. I remember when internet was new on my military base, but now that's in the past. Even my bro on his carrier still emails me, and has access to the internet at least once a day (and his 360 keeps him sane during his long deployments). Both systems look amazing, and I applaud Sony for keeping the used market going for as long as they can, but in the end it's going to be about the games. An internet connection once a day is going to perturb people because we don't like to think that anything we own has limits, but this really won't affect most people. Hotel rooms offer free internet (and I use it a LOT for my game systems since I travel all the time), most military installations have internet aplenty except those on the front line or in subs (or other clandestine operations), and within a few years I doubt many colleges or private institutions will not "get with it" regarding such technology (and many of them have no worries regarding internet). I think the best option as a gamer is to get both systems to play the best games. Obviously, this is not possible for everyone, so I say that those that financially will only get one system, I'd definitely endorse the PS4 for them (unless Killer Instinct really sways ya! (I needs my Killer Instinct!)), but refusing to get the Xbox One one the principle of the internet policy really is like me begging that books stay in print. I'm all about that, and completely wish that would be the case as, again, I like things to be as tangible as possible. However, I'd be foolish to think that this is the way things will always be. We live in an ever-changing world. It's a world where us "older" folk are clinging onto the old ways of doing things as long as possible, and a world where the younger crowd tends to be filled with entitled complainers (a dig at the perceived majority, but obviously not everyone in the crowd). Am I a fan of DRM? No...I think the only ones that can admit to that would be company executives that cling to any kind of security, false or otherwise. But I think the Xbox One has some great promise, and purposely not buying one is to purposely miss out on some great games! If a 360 loyalist held true to only that system, they'd miss out on Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Infamous, Heavy Rain, and many others. If a Sony loyalist held true, they'd miss out on Halo, Gears of War, Shadow Complex, Trials HD, Forza 3 and 4 (which, while I love Gran Turismo, I believe to be the better racing franchise...flame on, fanboys!), and many others as well. This obviously excludes Nintendo and PC, since most console wars tend to place players on team Sony or team Microsoft, but we have to remember that they're not sports teams. It's not like we're choosing Ohio State vs Michigan, or the Yanks vs the Sox...these are two brands of consoles, and we have the option of loving games on each of them! So to make this long post a bit longer, if you must choose just one console, think about the games you'd really like to play and get that system, not based on principles or team loyalty, but on the games that will help keep you warm on those cold December nights.

This is my stance on gaming in general, I have absolutely no brand loyalties, however something like the Xbox1 is probably something that I will never buy simply on principle alone, even if I can afford it eventually, it's not something I want, I do not like what Microsoft is doing with it or the general direction they seem to want to take consoles and gaming. >_>
