There's a difference, though. America patrols China's EEZ with defensive reasons in mind, we're trying to ensure that China doesn't make a territorial grab. This makes China less likely to pursue overly aggressive policies against Taiwan, Japan and South Korea, and reassures nations startled by the rise of the People's Republic. In any event, no one is supporting a legal action against China. Every single security expert (that I'm aware of) agrees that China is well within their right to do this. However, we are also with OUR right to limit the amount of information China can collect and put into place defensive counter measures. And yes, I'm okay with us spying on certain countries, while uneasy with those same countries spying on us.
