Whos Big Boss and Snake? I thought they were the same person. And who did we play as in SSBB?

Solid Snake is a clone of Big Boss. Big Boss was originally Naked Snake, one of the greatest soldiers in the world. However, after the United States forced him to kill his mentor The Boss, Big Boss turned his back on his country and founded Outer Heaven. Solid Snake eventually grows up and wipes out Outer Heaven, and in the far future becomes "Old Snake" once his cloned body begins to suffer from his accelerated aging. Solid Snake is who you play as in SSBB. There's also Liquid Snake, Solid Snake's brother and fellow clone, and Solidus Snake, AKA George Sears, former US President who is also a "brother" of the other Snakes, although he wasn't from the same batch of clones as the other two. I don't believe they used the so-called super baby method to create Solidus.

You play as him in MGS3 (before he became Big Boss), Portable Ops, Peace Walker, and now Ground Zeroes/Phantom Pain. Solid Snake is a genetic clone of Big Boss, one of three clones. You play as him in Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, MGS, MGS2 (For a short time), and MGS4. Solid Snake is in SSBB.

Nope. His codename was Naked Snake in MGS3.
