  • As far as playback quality and all it doesn't matter if it's a $1 or a $100 cable. Cheaper cables might be more prone to damage or wear and tear though. Still, it's not like it matters because it's better to replace a cheap cable than an expensive one.

  • No difference that matters. There is anecdotal evidence that gold plated cables play audio better. I have yet to hear proof.

  • You can probably find quality cables that are off-brand. I bought an HDMI cable (6ft, maybe?) on amazon several years ago for my 360 . . . was only a few dollars and I've never had the slightest issue.
