I was under the impression that it had already died while keeping humanity from being wiped out and that the only part of it still functioning was whatever technology it used to maintain flight. You have to wonder who the heck thought that building a city underneath of something that massive, when they weren't even sure how it worked, was a good idea.

The ViDoc did say that the Traveler sacrificed itself. But I was thinking more of a physical dying. I suppose building The City under the Traveler was better then being left out in the open.

That makes sense but now I'm wondering if the city was already there and the Traveler prevented it from being destroyed in whatever attack wiped out the rest of earth.
