There is no public Beta for Destiny as of now. The only testing that has gone on has been local.

So if I signed up to be a part of that alpha/beta testing at the bungie headquarters in Seattle when would I know about whether or not I got into the testing team?

What you signed up for was to be a 'research subject.' It means Bungie is taking data on the people that visit this site- finding out their gaming preferences and the likes. The chance to participate in a Beta is only that- a chance. You answered the questions, so now there is nothing more you can do.
