Well I would prefer subscriptions if anything like that is required. A deal breaker would be the pay to win model. I don't mean micro-transaction specifically. I speak of the sort where you pretty much can't make it through the whole game without buying from the shop or where if someone comes in and two days into the game has a character better than what you've been working six months for. I prefer subscriptions if I have to put money in beyond initial purchase of the game. Everyone pays the same for an account, everyone is on equal footing with what is available to them. I also find that sub based games have better content updates because they don't have devs sitting around putting together yet another outfit for the cash shop. They get money by keeping people interested, new content does that rather well. Anyway, flaws with any system and all of that. Pay to win is my deal breaker.

  • Personally I think there's absolutely no reason for a subscription service. Not on top of initial game price AND the cost of XBL if you're not on a PS. If I can't go buy the game and just play it without having to worry then I wouldn't waste my time.

  • That is a perfectly reasonable way of looking at it. I wasn't suggesting that the game go to a subscription based model, only stating my preference for that compared to micro transactions. I wouldn't mind a cash shop as long as the items aren't game breaking. Initial purchase along with dlc (expansions) at regular intervals would work best for consoles I think. We can't really count the xbl fee, that's a MS thing and Bungie has to make decisions based on their revenue needs.

  • Luckily both Bungie and Activision have said that the game is not going to have a subscription... and Bungie is smart enough to know that if they do have Microtransaction not to make the items for sell game changers... so what they would have for sell would be somewhere around weapon, armor, and ship skins to customize your appearance more, maybe a special vehicle that doesn't have stats better then other vehicles just to have something different... nothing to big though...
