I suppose Nintendo have quite a variety of creative system titles.

I feel like the Xbox brand has a bit more meaning behind their names though. What does Wii stand for anyways?
-
"Wii" was chosen because it sounds similar to "we". They wanted to show Wii as a great system for families, friends, and groups, playing together. As in, "We are playing together." Then Wii U, again according to Nintendo, was chosen because they wanted to focus more on the individual with a more core gaming focus. They wanted to focus on "you".

I suppose that does make sense. Thanks for informing us.

It stands for something?

No, I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Just a weird name for a gaming console.

Yeah I'll admit it's a bit too weird imo but hey, it worked all right. I do think LIVE is by far the best network name by the way. Especially the old skool orangey stylisation. Looked sleek.
