  • except.. you know... steam is purely digital distribution while you still have to buy a physical disc on the xbox. A physical disc which youre paying extra for to cover the packaging and manufacturing costs. And yet youre receiving no extra benefits then if you bought the digital copy

    Yeah, it's exactly like Steam. But here's the fun fact: games consoles have ALWAYS been about social gaming, sharing games with friends, getting systems hooked up for LAN games, going to friends' houses with new games they've never played. Now, you can't do that. Well, you can, but it'll either cost you, or you'll have to download your profile and prevent them from earning any progress in it. And god forbid it doesn't take your save data with you, so you have to start all over again. That's always fun. Steam and PC gaming has never been about taking your PCs round to friends' houses and sharing the games, because you play with one person per station. Bringing up the Steam argument when we're talking about consoles is a bullshit move and has no relevance to this argument. Social console gaming is dying. You cannot argue against that.

  • I take it you've never played a MM game of Halo then? LAN parties really died with the Original Xbox. Once services like LIVE hit big, LAN parties died. Come into the 21st century. Or don't. We could probably do better with less whiners anyway.

  • Of course I've played MM games of Halo, over 6000 on Halo 3 in fact. A significant amount of those were with my brother, who also has the game. But my point is not for people who have more than one copy of the game anyway. I'm talking about sharing games which you won't all want to play at the same time. That's something you can't seem to grasp. As a university student, would you like to know how many times my floor has hooked up our two 360s and TVs, and played as 4-player guests online, or locally? I'd say at least once a week. And we really enjoy it. But the thing is, the other guy doesn't have the same games I do, so he borrows them from the people on the floors above. He can't do that with the new system. You clearly don't understand that not everyone plays games the way you do.

  • Wuh? My halls connection is lightning fast (granted the upload speed is a bit naff, but online gaming never lags for me here), and my internet at home is also very quick. but that has absolutely nothing to do with what I'm talking about. Where did you even get that idea from? I'm talking about sharing games with one another, not about my internet. The reason I'm "butt-hurt" is because Microsoft is telling people to -blam!- off and buy the game again if they want to share it, which to me is unacceptable in the console industry. PC? Fine, it's always been like that. But not for consoles.

  • I'd disagree, seeing as I have a different standing on the matter. And considering how I have been repeating myself over and over to try and get the point through, you still ended up calling my argument an "infantile rant". Please tell me how me pointing out an issue with the way Microsoft are supposedly handling the used games matter, and backing it up with how it'll affect many thousands of gamers, is an infantile rant.
