Has a cracking soundtrack, as well as a variety of decent actors and talented people working on it.
I'm seriously pumped. Trailer 3 of this movie has been the best movie trailer of this year.

I wonder why Zod needs a suit to fight Superman with. Is Superman a special kind of Kryptonian in this universe?
-
Needs a suit to fight superman with? Maybe it's typical Kryptonian warrior armour in this universe? He is the General remember.
-
Edited by Madman Mordo: 5/11/2013 8:31:02 PMAt 2:19 he clearly has some kind of helmet on, which leads me to believe it's not just for aesthetic reasons. Also, here's an image still I found from reddit. Looks kind of combatant and militaristic in nature.
-
Well yeah, he is the general remember? Why wouldn't he have military and combatant armour on when fighting a fellow kryptonian?
-
Edited by Madman Mordo: 5/11/2013 8:40:01 PM1) What's the point when he has Kryptonian powers? And 2) Why does he need a suit, a personal army, and spaceships for one supposedly average Kryptonian which was my original question? Thus coming to the conclusion that Superman is most likely some kind of special Kryptonian in this universe.
-
Why would he need a personal army and spaceships? A planet is a big place. I'd assume to either force him out by attacking the locals with his army or just to search for him.
-
But why do the need something like this? Pretty overkill for one guy. Anyway, I'm not saying it's concreted fact, just spitballing.
-
He's a small target. Harvesting cities to try and pick him up seems logical. BUT to add some more credence to your "special Kryptonian" idea, there's also this message from Zod.
-
What about this thing? I understand what you both are saying, but a personal army and battle gear seems a bit over the top to find and kill/arrest one seemingly average Kryptonian.
-
But I'm siding with you! I'm just saying that picture does sort of fit Fatman's theory. But when Zod says "your world has sheltered one of my citizens," I get the feeling that there's something else going on here. Personally I believe that Zod has the last Kryptonians under capture in his ship. If you look at TV Spot 3 you'll see Jor-El. I'm fairly certain that's not from the beginning of the movie. In addition, if you look at TV Spot 2, you can see Jor-El look at that bluish light that I mentioned earlier. I believe it to be some sort of gravity beam or something. Perhaps in the beginning of the movie, after Kal is sent off to Earth, the beam draws up Jor-El et al. Also, if you look at the soundtrack track list, you can see the track "I Have so Many Questions." Now, while we saw this line in TV Spot 1 and it looks like Kal hasn't gotten his Superman suit yet, I believe this is a line that Kal will repeat later on in the movie, perhaps when Jor-El and the rest of the Kryptonians either die or depart after coming back or something. This is all interesting, but I'm sort of concerned about what they'll do to the origins of Superman. It seems like they truly have tampered with it as the rumors suggest. However, it's not going to be nearly enough to dampen my enjoyment of the movie if it turns out to be true. Nolan and Goyer have shown that they understand what truly makes Superman so interesting to me. The fact that both kindness is his weakness AND strength, and the fact that he lives a sad, lonely life in society despite being such a good natured person.

Suspicions confirmed. Take a look at 0:25. There is something fishy going on here.

What's with the blade thing?
-
Well, not exactly glowing, but sort of... I don't know how to describe it.
-
Isn't that a Kryptonian spaceship attacking him or something?
-
I have no idea. It's just this blue-ish vortex type thing. In addition it seems that he flies into a similar beam at one point during the trailer. I'm clueless. And excited. Cluelessly excited or excitedly clueless?
-
Isn't he always a special kind of Kryptonian?
-
Nope. Just a regular ass Kryptonian until he decided to chill in the Sun for 15,000 years.
-
I thought Jor-El genetically engineered him to be a true blood Kryptonian?
-
Edited by Madman Mordo: 5/11/2013 8:19:44 PMHe did, but that's what allowed him to depart Krypton, because apparently any other Kryptonians die if they leave due to a genetic defect. Other than that, there's no evidence to suggest that he's anything special in the main continuity.
-
No idea. It might have something to do with how Superman was practically glowing blue in some parts of the third trailer.
