An AP exam is a final in an AP course. The final score is the equivalent of a final score in a college class in the same field. So lets say you get a 3, its like getting a C for that college class. If you have a 4 or above, most colleges will accept the AP course as an actual college course completed and give you credit for it. You take AP courses in Highschool usually.
