They would if they had essentially 3 things;
-Longer range between charges
-Equivalent price to gas powered cars
-Batteries that were cheaper to replace and to dispose of.
But when it comes to sports cars, half the allure is the engine sound. that would be a difficult thing to overcome.

Edited by fanousontheloose: 5/10/2013 4:13:19 PM-Isn't the range about 300 miles? -The Toyota Prius has 4 different models all range from between $19k to as high as 32K I think the range is fine. -I thought Lithium batteries would much better to dispose of? I can't argue with engine sound though, that's a big one for me, its why I want a subaru!
-Isn't the range about 300 miles?
I should have prefaced; In normal sized vehicles.
-The Toyota Prius has 4 different models all range from between $19k to as high as 32K I think the range is fine.
But they are just flat ugly.
-I thought Lithium batteries would much better to dispose of?
I've never heard that, and they are more hazardous environmentally to create.

-ok I agree most cars get well above 400. My '97 van gets 300 miles to a tank. -See now you're getting to the point I'm making, you won't but because its ugly. -You should look up Lithium batteries. It's what Tesla uses for their cars. They're far better than Acid batteries.

For electrics thus far you have 2 options; -Generic, small, ugly, what were they thinking, Hey let's put wheels on a jelly bean -Over the top Ferrari-esque in design and price. If they aim for making a 'normal' car in electric, then they would have a better cross section of the populace to sell to.

That's what I've been trying to say!! Did you read the OP haha The cheaper cars are super ugly and the nice looking cars are too expensive!

I guess I was blinded by the ugly of the Leaf.

But... but I like the leaf.
