It's not that it's illegal (it may very well be legal where you live), it's that you'd get your face blown off for attacking a cop. It's just how they work. Their partner isn't going to stop and realize what a terrible mistake they've made and leave after you shoot the cop.

Some criminals dress as police for these kinds of reasons. If an officer hasn't gotten a warrant he has no reason to enter your home.

Considering you'd probably spend the rest of your life in prison for killing a cop even if it's your rights to do so, it's probably better not to shoot.
