Problem is the you can say speak with your votes all you want but that doesn't mean the guy who wins sticks to their portfolio. You can't call people retarded voters either since in the US who spends the most money and is backed by the most powerful companies funding the candidates is the guy who is going to win since the Presidential election is just a massive propaganda war. It's sad to watch, the EU right now is trying to allow TV adverts and things for elections in the member states and the UK government has already said they are not going to implement it because its been a law for hundreds of years. While the EU says its a human right or freedom of speech violation.

I'd agree with you if Americans wanted these tariffs and trade bans lifted but their politicians refused to do so. But the majority of Americans want this. They want China's imports taxed, they want Mexico's imports taxed, because they think for some reason this helps them when anyone who took a simple Economics class knows it doesn't.

you can be informed but the guy you vote in has no obligation to stick to the crap he preaches, so the guy could say "I'll ban guns" but have no intention of doing so but says that to gain votes If all runners are going to do the same then no amount of information is going change the outcome
