OP what would you say your favorite genre of metal is above all the rest?

Sub genre? MeloDeath, although I listen to all extreme metals except grindcore and sludge.

I too love melodic death metal, but why does that mean other people shouldn't enjoy other genres more than that. Our tastes are specific to us and other people do not often share them.

What I meant in the op is why do they listen to it if Extreme metals offer more variety and face-melting solos? The genres are akin in that they have harsh vocals so there isn't too drastic of a change, at first anyways.
