Let's say you want to try some hard liquor
You want to try something harder than gorcery store beer. Where do you start? Do you just buy a bottle of Jack Daniels and pour yourself a glass? Begin with some rum? Start with some mixed drinks?
Go go go.

I started with Vodka mixed drinks, then I started doing shots of straight vodka to start nights. Then one time I went too far, now my stomach rejects vodka.

Will always be a vodka person. Don't really mind the other liquor's, but vodka will always be a fave. Tequila for shots.

I would start with either a sweet rum and coke, or a vodka mixed drink, like Vodka & Cranberry. Alcohol is very much an acquired taste, and you have to get used to it first. CamCamm: I am surprised, you didn't recommend a long island iced tea?

But, if you are 21 and staring out; Spearmint Schnapps It's like drinking candy, that burns a little. All other hard liquor has really awful taste that you have to get used to.

The way I did it over the years/months was to simply mix the vodka/rum with fruit juice, pop, etc. and simply decrease the amount of that over time.

6 RepliesAlright, rum is a go. Basic vodka mixes are also popular. Whiskey seems to be a love/hate with you guys. Might look at some gin. Any interesting combos/mixes you recommend?

I usually just drink it from the bottle or if shot glasses are around in the pregame, use that.

Vodka is most popular for mixed drinks as the flavor isn't as strong. Now with all these flavored vodkas that are around people are coming up with some crazy drinks that you'd probably never guess had any alcohol in them.

I just took the plunge. I ended up drinking [i]way[/i] too much. I drank like a quarter of a 1.75 liter bottle of vodka. I don't know how I didn't die. I take it much easier since then.

If you don't like Orange Juice, can also use Cranberry Juice (That would be called a Sea Breeze instead). If you're a southern gentleman, try vodka and sweet tea - or vodka and Arnold Palmer (sweet tea + lemonade, the alcoholic mix is called a John Daly).

7 RepliesBegin with some liquor with taste. Like Jagermeister, or spiced rum, even mixed vodka's or those fruity Bacardi's. Once you've had that, you can just try some Whiskey, Vodka, Tequila.
