I say its a double edged sword. It can keep a society from killing its self from within, but it will also hinder our growth when things that can benefit us are stopped because its not "morally" correct. Like stem cell research. And other examples.

This is a good view. I say it's a rational view of morals. It indeed is a double edged sword. I can imagine research would be furthered if we did not have morals holding us back. I would say it would be preferable if people could set aside certain morals in order for the advancement of the human race in general.
