Because it's essentially throwing money into a black hole. There is literally no reason to increase funding to the public education system unless you pass reform legislation and weaken the power of the unions in our schools.

Edited by M37h3w3: 4/25/2013 3:36:06 AMSo why haven't we? Democrats want to spend more on social services to look good to their constituents. Republicans want to cut waste. This is like win--blam!-ing-win here.

Edited by Diplomat: 4/25/2013 3:53:28 AMMy son, Unions are a powerful source of corruption in our educational system. Plus, there is a disagreement on how our reform should look. I believe republicans look more towards creating technical education programs and backing engineering programs, while democrats typically look at preparing kids for college. Both need to implemented if we wish to have a chance at creating a proper system capable of preparing children for the future. *mind you, the above is mainly speculation, I don't have any hard sources.
I believe republicans look more towards creating technical education programs
It's what the GOP is trying to do in TX but predictably are getting pushback from D's who allege that it's "lowering the standard". You know, because anyone who doesn't prepare for and attend college has failed in life. :-/
