Because I used he in reference to something that could be either gender. She is REALLY stupid, not just about that, but about almost everything she talks about.

What is wrong with "they" exactly?

If I were to say "When someone gets shot in the head, they die.", "they" is a plural pronoun, while "someone" is singular. They don't agree.

I've never heard that they was strictly plural, I thought it could be either.

People use it that way so much that it's become a grey area, but technically it's not supposed to be used that way. I'll use it on here, but in formal papers I avoid it.
