Too many people need to get over themselves and realize that people are animals, too. Doing something horrible to an animal and saying, "It's just an animal," is no different than Hitler saying, "They're just Jews."
The only acceptable reasons to kill animals are:
1. Food
2. Protecting yourself/others
3. Getting rid of pests in your home
4. Mercy killing

So your analogy is wrong.
