I seriously want to know why they terminated that option? Did they feel like good friends were scamming the system.. You know.. each friend pays in $20 and sets up a Gold family plan?

I find it funny that they are doing things to piss the community off before the next Xbox. PSN is free, PSN+ is a hell of a lot better than Live, and the PS4 look promising. It seems like they want people to switch over.

LOL, good luck with that. My mother doesn't play XBL (or even use the internet or any source of news) so it's only me on my own in which case solo yearly golden memberships are cheaper you're on your own on that one, you may need to suffer for that but I don't know whether or not it would be easier to use a PS4 cos their network is very, very free.
