Precursors/Forerunners.
Forerunners lock in him a time capsule and leave him there for eternity. Superman's strength does not expand to interdimensional magic.

The forerunners aren't magic. And he's beaten worse.
-
Umm.. the Forerunners are the definition of magic. Everything in their society runs on magic.
-
Proof? I thought they were just really advanced aliens.
-
The Halo Ring is all the proof I really need.
-
Again, just a really advanced machine. Still not magic.

I've stated that. It's still not genuine magic.
-
There comes a point when science gets so advanced there isn't much of a difference between science and magic. The forerunners are pretty much there. The precursors are already past that point and are now basically elder gods.
-
I know, Clarke's Third Law. It isn't actually magic though, just really advance science. It looks like magic...but it isn't. And without kryptonite, magic, or infinite or near-infinite strength, there's not a whole lot they can do against Superman.
-
yeah, that's my point, their tech is so advanced that it is basically magic. Superman has been killed before, he isn't invincible, and the Halo universe does have a trans-dimensional God-tier race in the mix that cannot be harmed by anything other than the effects of the Halo array.

Superman was almost killed by Doomsday...who would steamroll right over the forerunners and probably the precursors. Keep in mind the key word was almost. Doomsday still failed. The precursors would too. And I doubt the precursors could survive an infinite-strength punch from Superman.
