I have to admit, this is the only part of this situation I find really spooky. Yeah, I can totally understand the desire to grab this guy as soon as possible, and you can be sure people are going to be pissed if the town is locked down for another day or two... but on the face of it, we're probably going to look back at this and say, "Oh... we have laws against this, don't we."
I look forward to any court decisions on this.
EDIT: Furthermore, it's one thing if they suddenly knock on my door in the middle of the night to "make sure you don't have any communist materials" or something like that. Random searches and seizures of people's homes, definitely not cool. But if they come to my place saying they're looking for this particular guy who's been on all the news stations all day and they'll be in and out in less than half an hour and won't come back, I guess I'm ok with that.

Look for a retro-active warrant from a judge. Or, a reference to a clause in the Patriot Act.

Retro-active warrant. LOL! I would not be surprised if they pulled some legal BS like that. *sigh* I just hope they catch the dirtbag as soon as possible... preferably before the day is over. Then everything can go back to normal.

they caught him

Yeah, I know. Been pretty stoked over the past hour or so over the news! :)
-
oh you didnt catch the live stream Police chatter they had while tracking him? someone posted a link on this cite.
-
I think I did. I was listening to a police scanner on UStream, along with live footage from a local Boston TV news station. Good stuff. Happy to have heard it the moment they announced they caught the guy.

With a citywide curfew and an order to "stay in your homes", I wonder if they are knocking and requesting entrance, or are just entering. If they knock and there's no answer? Are they breaking the lock and entering/searching? This is ongoing and there are a lot of questions. They'll be asked later, I am sure.

Edited by LOLdragon89: 4/20/2013 1:41:01 AMYeah, from the sound of things I heard, if you weren't home or didn't answer the door, they just broke in... I really hope that wasn't the case though. Even under such circumstances, that's the LAST thing I want our law-enforcement to do. We'll learn what happened soon enough though. For now, I'm going to enjoy some drinks and celebrate the capture of this guy!
