Just like any other class. It is effective for the right circumstances.
There are just as equally stupid medic, engineers, assault people. It just so happens that recons are more obviously retarded in some cases.

I've come across stupid people in every class. Engineers who completely ignore a damaged vehicle. Supports who don't give people ammo who are requesting it. Assaults who either: Don't revive, or revive in the worst places possible.
