I love the idea of bullet drop. I play BF3 so I'm quite familiar with it. Bullet drop makes sniping skill. Makes shooting a lot different than COD. Bullet drop is real and should be incorporated into Destiny :). I love the challenge!! And mastering bullet drop with sniping makes being a sniper more respected because of the skill it requires. And they should add bullet speed too. Like how in BF3 you have to lead on your target...now that is even more challenging and what is life or games with out challenge? Boredom that's what. So I say add bullet drop and take into account the speed of the projectiles as well. BF3 is a great success and that's how they did things. Bullet drop and bullet speed. Yes it's not popular like COD but this is Bungie we're talking about. It'll be popular regardless x). I forgot to add this part....since this is a Sci-Fi shooter the guns will either be energy weapons or projectile weapons or both. If they're projectile weapons then bullet drop should still be a factor. Yes it's in the 2700's but you have to remember, gravity hasn't gone away. Sure the projectile may go further with out dropping do to advances in technology and what not, but it's still a solid mass. And unless physics have changed the projectile will drop after a certain distance. As for a rail gun...well if we got those than there wont be much drop do to the speed and energy behind it. That's my understanding of a rail gun anyway. Would love to see Bungie put work into bullet drop and projectile speed. If not, oh well. Gonna be a great game either way :D

Sniping will never be respectable.

Was going to post this exact same thing. Everyone hates the sniper.

That's all you can say out of all my text? *sighs* That's not true. Real sniping takes skill and practice. To acquire skill to master sniping takes time and dedication. Yes I get po'd when snipers in BF3 pick me off from very very far distances, but I never forget the time and dedication they must have put in to get the skills. I give credit where credit is due plain and simple. If you can't see it that way then...idk what else to tell you.

Edited by civilwargeeky: 4/10/2013 5:08:50 AMThis line of reasoning got me to thinking. What if the fundamental properties of gunpowder itself are not the same in 700 years? Gunpowder could now have a much higher yield without having adverse affects on the shooter. What if there were special kinds of bullets that gained density from an oxidation reaction when fired, while being protected with a thin sheath when in a magazine? This would make the bullet able to reach a higher velocity because of the reduced weight. There could be a lot of scifi reasons for differences from modern tech. Especially in things like bullets and guns.

I would definitely enjoy the element of realism it would bring. Railguns and energy weapons are exactly the type of replacements that would innately be less affected by bullet drop. I feel the same way, If they don't have it the game wouldn't be ruined by any measure but it would make the game that much more interesting and provide another balancing feature. Spread isn't technically realistic because it isn't all that hard to aim a gun accurately during sustained fire, that doesn't mean I'm against it in games but I would like to see a developer make shooting realistic without it feeling like simulation. But like I said before it won;t matter in the end because I know this game will be amazing regardless what they decide to do with it.
