Everybody through taxes plus subsidies from the government. People complain the government loses billions on Medicad, well make the taxes run it and the government tops it off that way it's cheaper for everybody (like $2000 cheaper) and it's not a massive government sink hole.
Everybody through taxes plus subsidies from the government.
So it's not actually free.
-
I didn't say it was free.

Call me what ever you want but I dont want more taxes to pay for other's healthcare.
Call me what ever you want but I dont want more taxes to pay for other's healthcare.
American individualism at it's best. The circumstances under which my tax dollars would go to pay for someone elses welfare would definitely be a concern of mine. I would abhore having my money be spent to pay for someone's diabetes medication. (Type 2, adult onset after a long history of physical neglect) That said, if my tax dollars went in to further lukemia research or to fund a bone marrow transplant for a child unable to pay the surgery fees, I would gladly give up a portion of my earnings. Your gross generalization of "other's healthcare" is abhorent and inhumane. More than ever, Ameriica needs to rekindle it's sense of national community. And that starts by caring about other Americans. Understanding other Americans. Accepting that at it's purest core, the Government is here to help arbitrate relationships between individual citizens and ensure "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" for all that invested in it's creation.

So what if im looking out for myself first and foremost. I will help my friends, I will help my family, I will even help strangers. I dont want to be forced to help, especially if helping others has a chance to harm me in the process.
I dont want to be forced to help, especially if helping others has a chance to harm me in the process.
I first will ask you to clarify on what harm can befall you under these circumstances. I don't catch your meaning. Second, you are not being forced to help. Did you attend public school? Have you encountered police patrolling your street? Have you ever called 911 or sought emergency assistance? These are all government programs your tax dollars help to provide. You have, since you were born, recieved thousands of dollars in assistance from the taxpayer dollar. I ask you, is healthcare an emergency service? To someone in critical condition or dealing with a life threatening or terminal illness it definitely is. And the chances of you recieving a serious injury or illness sometime during your life are very, very high. So I ask, is it harmful for you or even beyond the scope of looking out for yourself to ensure that when you need money for a serious health related issue, the funds are available to keep you out of the debt hole?

They would be paying for your healthcare to you know. Most countries in the world have public healthcare yet the leader of the free world doesn't? Even Russia has it and that's a communist country. But hey America likes to put a price on a persons life and prioritize profits over life, great country.
-
Its not like we dont already have enough taxes and other expenditures going around in this country. I dont want to see another system that taxes me more that has the potential to be abused. -looks at the welfare system-
-
Yes. The system would require oversight. We're at a point in government when deregulation has been a huge thing across all industries. (thank you Bush) System abuse is naturally occuring, so of course changes and iterations would need to be constantly updated to adapt to circumstances. But the potential for abuse does not outweigh the possible benefits, for you or your fellow Americans.

Better than letting people die because the government has to ration its healthcare funds.
-
So it's better for the government to write off the debt than save a small portion of the budget for the program? If 99% of the world can pull off universal healthcare I see absolutely no reason while the country with the largest economy on the planet cannot.
