As a Battlefield player, I'd say yes. Plus I always thought it to be very illogical for games like CoD to have gravity and yet the bullets are unaffected.

Bullet drop in Battlefield is added more for balance than realism. Imagine how OP snipers would be in that game without it.

It wouldn't make sense, since we are going to be on different planets. Try to shoot on Jupiter, the bullet will never arrived where you aimed at. And it's a sci-fi/fantasy MMO, maybe the races (Human, Awoken or Exo. It doesn't matter.) have erased the bullet drop system with their new technology. I wouldn't think that in the extreme future Destiny will be, our real world will have bullet drop.

Shooting anything on Jupiter wouldn't make sense because the visibility is shite. Sorry but please read the other comments in the thread. Anything that moves through space is affected by gravity, bullet drop will always exist as long as we're using bullets. Otherwise that's like saying in ~700~ years we'll have invented lightsabers; some crazy ass technology that clearly defies the laws of physics. Then again there is space magic which could have an effect but how many space magic abilities do you think you'll have to start off with?

I'm going to need you to explain this better.

Edited by Oneironaut: 4/7/2013 7:34:47 AMWhat else is there to explain? Gravity affects things in motion, what goes up, must come down. As a bullet travels, it begins to drop. Battlefield doesn't have a "point and shoot" sniping mechanic, because the bullets are actually affected by gravity.

Hitscan is so widespread in FPSs that it struck me as odd that you even mentioned it.

Although Battlefield may SEEM to be the more realistic because of the bullet drop (granted the destructable environment does make it more realistic), that actually isnt the case. Any form of assault weapon can fire a projectile that travels around the length of a few football fields. Even pistols can make it around the length of one. Snipers on the other hand can easily go a kilometer before noticing any significant bullet drop as is shown in Battlefield. Now take the average sniping distance in CoD that is about 50-150 feet away. Does ANY bullet drop seem realistic to be in this scenerio?! No of course not. When you look at Battlefield, those bullets are dropping far too quickly for it to be realistic. Even at the furthest possible sniping lengths, the bullets shouldnt be dropping more than a foot if that. So in a sense, bullet drop is making Battlefield LESS realistic and CoD more along the lines of realism when it comes to bullet drop. (Disclaimer: I happen to be a fan of both shooters (along with Halo and Destiny of course :P ) and was impressed by the new BF4 trailer)

Edited by hopla: 4/10/2013 11:22:03 AM~5fps~, but yes that is a long time to be in the air. -edit: I realize this sounds asinine but I'm guessing the simulation this dude is talking about is of a gun shot at a 45 degree angle because the rate of acceleration for falling bodies is not extremely affected by atmospheric fluctuations.

Because CoD is an arcade shooter and nobody wants to be bothered by realism.
