Mandatory XBL membership ... wait to they mention silver is no longer free.
Mind you Bungie/Activision are doing the same thing with Destiny ... didn't see too much rage about that idea when it got aired. And with the game it basically becomes useless as new DLC or editions get released, at least the console will last longer than 3 months. (unless you like wondering around alone in your virtual world whilst everyone else moves on to the newly release map space)

-_-.. Destiny is NOT a single player game though! It is a Co-Op FPS/MMO? MMOs need an internet connection!

mmm ... think that was my point. Although as Emperor Gillard's post below shows many are not aware of this requirement. Dont care myself, just expect some classic cry moar when the games released. Not like it is a well known concept for xbox titles ... and it is interesting to see the noise over the console needing this "always connected" state (when most time it is anyway) when people dont realize that is the way games are headed.

Source for Destiny being always online?
-
Somewhat of a change I know ... I too thought there would be more of a "cry" from the masses. Source ... go type "bungie destiny always online" into your favorite search engine ... but since I am a nice person. There has already been some leaked beta issues (which they have promised to address befor the public preview "beta"), and much of this revolves around the way they deal with quit bans. As I said in my original post the other issue is how to deal with DLC and new releases (yet to detail how they will divide the 15 releases over the biennial schedule) ... imagine if you buy the titl release version of the game in month 4 ... by that time most of the population would have moved onto new DLC galaxies - so all you will have left roaming "your" galaxy are other noobs and those "easy kill" masters who elect to stay behind to get a few easy kills.
