• Would you be upset if it was an option? Doesnt mean you have to use it, but would you deny others who rely or want it?

It's effect on overall player agency would be too great for all players to ignore. (As a strategy in co-op or competitive player)

Better to have it than not. Theres no reason you have use it yourself. By placing this argument before the community I'm not forcing them to use it, but to remove prone is forcing other community members who want it within the game to adapt to specific settings rather than simply letting them decide on what they want to use and take away from Destiny as a enjoyable experience for them. Also you're going to have to forgive me I wish to continue our discussion in the other section but I'm on an old iPad and for some reason when a thread reaches a certain size I keep getting kicked off and have to sign back in. It's very aggravating when managing three debates on different issues.

  • all activisions COD players would love prone, cool. But the way prone ruins so many other aspects of the game would ruin everyone's experience.

Secondary core mechanics that involve movement are not optional. They effect the game too much for some players to use and some to not. Consider Battlefield 3. I know of no player that refuses to use the prone functionality. It's a movement mechanic that serves great purpose within combat. To refuse it's use simply because you don't like it is limiting your ability to achieve optimal end-state. (aka, winning combat)

Again that's a PVP concern of my player optional choice for use of prone or not, saying its an issue for PVE in one of our previous conversations is simply a mask for the larger issue for competitive players on a arena based environment. In no way does a Stealth class player who can go prone effect my game play against the Ai if he and I are on the same team fighting the Ai. If anything he's doing his job by providing cover fire while avoiding line sight detection. From a prone position or crouched it simply adds a familiarity to each individual player regardless of game mechanics. The option for a smaller hit box has no detrimental effect on PVE at the base level. Now the true concern about prone is the visual sight of a human eye trying to find another human in combat, yes you would be naturally concerned about prone due to shielding, where rather with BF3 players it has no real effect other than enhancing the experience for them due to the quickness of kills and class based game play. Simply saying its a mechanic unworthy of the game is counter to actual sales and reaching a broader audience.

Nowhere in the history of Bungie's design paradigm has there been the addition/subtraction of core mechanics between these modes. The fact that it is a PVP concern is a legit reason to call it's inclusion into question. You don't implement a core mechanic, balance it for PVE, and just see how it plays out in PVP. You have to take all into consideration.
The option for a smaller hit box has no detrimental effect on PVE at the base level.
Yes. It does, as the AI must take it into account. The designer must also take it into account when designing encounter damage tables, as it has a significant effect on player agency within the scope of a given encounter. Half of designing a level/encounter is getting in the head of the player. To do this, you must know the options and strategies available to that player. You have to think ahead and know as many ways the player will act as possible. Then you can take these considerations into account when doing balancing. I don't think you understand how big of an impact core mechanics have on how a game develops. It's near priority one on the list of things to define.

  • That's why I'm saying it and asking this question about the ability. Also it's most likely a 50/50 on the answer due to Activision's involvement and to what degree. Gotta go be back later to talk.

  • no i would not be upset if it was an option, if it is in the game it's in the game. no amount of hate or whining will do anything. it wont be a deal breaker for me either way.
