I love Berserk, the chronicles of Thomas Covenant, The lord of the rings, and I am thinking about reading Fire and Ice, though I heard almost every likable character dies. I'm also a fan of Dean Koontz' books.

Fire and Ice is dreck. But I also have enjoyed Lord of the Rings. I humbly recommend The Tales of the Dying Earth to you. In particular those adventures involving Cugel the Clever.
