Theres a lot of problems with this, and I'm not saying that clans are bad, but this idea needs work. If every clan has a piece of land then the land would be surrounded by lots of little buildings, at least around a certain area. Another is that the feel of the game. I don't want to be walking around and see a random clan base that just sticks out of the landscape being an eyesore. I also don't see how efficient building the base would be, its not not we can just turn on forge and a couple of walls later we have a nice base. Destiny is a persistent online world so forging while others are walking around would be annoying for other players trying to get by.
Why not just have a place in the Hub where you can teleport to your clan base. It wouldn't be special as in you can't make it in your own design but you can buy useful things member of your clan can use, such as clan pikes, a supply of ammo and fragmentation grenades, health(If the game does not depend on rechargeable shields), stuff like that. The clan base would be bought from a market like place and stuff you can put in the base along with a "clan leader permit" that you can get be gathering four or more players and talking to a certain AI. All new incoming members can join with an invite from the clan leader or from some of the people that helped found the clan, and maybe those who the leader grants permission to do that.
Clans should be social and not meant to grant much special bonus. Maybe in the persistant world if clan members are together they get clan benefits from how many players from the clan are in there. This however should stay in the persistent world and have no effect in the competitive side of Destiny. Just my thoughts since clans should be optional and not mandatory for one to thrive in the world of Destiny.

Edited by Hugh Janus: 7/18/2013 5:29:38 PMDude you can't see other people you aren't playing with, so what Colonel Talis would work waaaay better than what you would expect. Follow gameplays, and what Bungie says.

In another reply.

I said that dude.

I posted that before actual gameplay. I am still actively following the latest new. I now see it possible but this could happen. But I still think it's a stretch. From what I've seen there is no "game leader". So does this mean everyone in your world can make an outpost if they join you? I know that the player cap is probably not a lot so say your friend makes a outpost and you leave some of your stuff there because why make another one when he has one set up. So what if he leaves? Does the base disappear along with your stuff? Does it go to one of your outpost? What if you didn't even make an outpost? And lets say it stays when he/she leaves. What then? Does it disappear over time? Can you delete it after awhile? But wait, if you can delete it then can't others delete it too because you are not the game leader. Yeah it's a bit flawed, I'd rather we get our gear from the city.

Nope i like bases (or mobile bases) better. Im sure bungie will figure some thing out if they are making bases. Like you send a request to be able to use his base or ship when he's online, if he accepts then there won't be any flaws with this system.
-
But if your base is mobile why even need to use a friends base? And if it was mobile I'd rather it be the ship. Besides Bungie did say that the ship will be used for more than travel, I'm sure the ship will be your "base". We can restock ammo in there and switch out some guns. And if it was only a ship it would be so simple, once the player goes, so does the ship. Like if it was a base what if I was in that base when that character left? It doesn't matter at if you like bases over ship, we have to think about gameplay and seeing a player made base could cause map problems like blocking a certain path or something along those lines.

I have already talked about the things you said above. Just search the whole page, and you'l find it. Also, i am not talking a bout a small ship. Lets think about star wars okay? Theres an x wing, and a star destroyer. Im talking about a star destroyer.
-
So do you want ships or bases? I'm confused about what you favor.
-
Star destroyer sized ships used for a base. Don't ask any more i'm already confused about myself, and my opinions.
-
Right. Well whatever happens I trust Bungie will make a good decision and not worry about it too much. Hopefully by then you'll have your opinion's settled out. Until next time.
-
Yes. I trust Bungie more than i trust my self. If Bungie says "no bases, bases will make the game bad" i'd be like, "ok, it will i don't want it".

you are right, but this is something I spent 5 minutes thinking about and then 5 minutes writing. I got kind of excited. And by "Customizable", I mean adding in banners you can purchase, different styles of furnishings available, things like that, like that one game, Overlord 2 I think. You could fully customize your base, and as you achieved things, you had more options to buy from. Some were useful but most were aesthetic. I want stuff like that, so each clan has more of a personal style. I'm a big RPer when it comes to games like this, so for me the small stuff matters. The world should feel as realistic as possible, while still belonging in its mythic sci fi.

Edited by Hugh Janus: 7/18/2013 5:31:28 PMYup me too :D.I would probably take hours to customize and make everything look good from me to our base. But not just make it look good, i would aquire stuff to make everything strong, while also looking good.
