Part of being a researcher actually forces you to be like this, because if and when you need to carry out experiments (especially in medical disciplines because they'll often deal with high-risk studies on humans or other animals) they'll often need to pass a check by an ethics board/committee.

So we've established the research is correlation, not causation. Without an ethics committe, the research would likely not show the same results.

I don't know how or if that ties in with the OP's post/link - I didn't read it. It was merely an observation from my own experience.
