No civilian needs a gun of any kind. Simple.
Oh?
-
How would a gun have helped here? How would shooting anyone have solved anything? If anything, it would have proved the government's point; that Japanese are a danger to the country's security.
-
why how racist....i thought canada had anti-discrimination laws?
-
We do now, but WWII happened quite a bit before the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. And this kind of thing happened a lot during both World Wars.
-
Japanese internment was kind of a popular trend during the war.
-
And uh... how would guns have helped them? See, the Japanese in America wanted to stay. If they had fought, they wouldn't have been allowed to stay, and they would have brought violence down of their friends and families across the country.

I definitely have a need to defend myself, it's a shame you don't value yourself as highly.
-
what about rural areas of poverty where hunting for food is needed to survive?
-
How do you fight against your government if it begins to be tyrannical or the Irish were to attack you.
-
If my government starts becoming tyrannical, I'll vote against them at the next election. If the Irish attack me, I'll let the army sort them out.
-
Wake up, we're in the 21st century. If you think the government is like that, you need to check into a mental hospital. That's what a military is for.
-
This idiot has no idea how governments work. Not to mention more guns per capita equals less crime. It's a statistic that makes your argument moot.
-
There's only so much a military can do. I've read from studies before that one of the reasons why the Soviet Union didn't try to occupy Finland during the Cold War was because so many Finnish people had guns in their homes.
-
Wake up, we're in the 21st century.
So? Nothing about this century makes it inherently impossible for a government to become tyrannical. It's an extreme example, but not invalid. Just look at the Arab Spring.

You can't reason with these people. They've lived in a peaceful place all their life and not done enough looking out the window, nor in the rear-view mirror. For all our sake, hopefully they'll never have to see the errors of their ways.
