"The trademark applications, each filed March 11, cover a variety of uses. If the USPTO grants Bungie the trademarks, the developer will be able to use them to create and sell interactive game software, graphic novels, Halloween costumes, TV programs, ringtones, and footwear, among a long list of other items based on the names."

Good find. "Hive" makes me think of the barely mentioned "Space Zombies" that have been hinted at. We'll hopefully see soon.

The only things relating to or suggesting Hive thus far have been the Vex. Just going off the way Glimmer sounds, I remember Deej mentioning in one of the blogs that killing certain Fallen separates their ethereal soul from their corpse; there's a possibility this Glimmer is somehow related to that, and if so, could relate to other supernatural/undead occurrences. Space Zombies for example, if something like undead is what they are. Or being booted from an area on death to respawn somewhere else. Souls and such is a bit fantasy/horror for an SF setting, Space Zombies notwithstanding, but, y'know, extradimensional planes of existence blah slipspace blah, jargon. Space Zombies. -

The merchandise and properties they may use the trademarks on isn't nearly as interesting as the trademarked names themselves. Everybody going on about condoms, flip flops and other ridiculous junk, remember most if not all of the things mentioned in the article have been done with Halo already (if you count live action web miniseries is covered by same trademarks as those for a TV show though Bungie could certainly be trying to get off Destiny IP onto cable like SyFy or others). Yes, there's even Halo footwear, remember those Halo 4 skateboard kicks? -
Glimmer is the most interesting of those. Wonder what glimmer is. sounds sparkly.
