Coming from someone who lives just outside Chicago, Chicago and the surrounding suburbs are really the only good part of Illinois. It's really a completely different state outside the area.

I too live in a town outside of Chicago, Naperville, so I know what you mean. I go to Southern Illinois every once in a while for a family reunion or for a club, I feel like I should be in Ohio or Iowa, not Illinois. They don't even support the right baseball teams, they root for the cardinals.
