So I got my wisdom teeth pulled...

...And this has been the worst recovery ever! When one of the teeth was pulled, a piece of the tooth broke off, and is still inside my mouth. I feel like it is drilling into my -blam!-ing nerve, and it's probably going to be stuck in there after its done healing. I've also got canker sores all over my mouth, and now there's this horrid taste that won't go away! Stupidly, I tried rinsing with Listerine to get the god awful taste out of my mouth, and apparently I'm not supposed to do that. The terrible taste came back 5 minutes later anyway. I also got an ulcer from all the Ibuprofen I've been taking. I've had surgeries before, but this is the absolute worst recovery ever! Discuss.

  • you got an ulcer because you weren't eating food with the ibuprofin you MUST eat food when you take ibuprofin.

  • Sounds like you are a wimp. I had mine pulled and cut at 16. Two pulled, two cut. I had no issues other than the pain killers making me nauseous, so I just didn't take them. Tough it out you big baby.

Ouch lol. I've got one wisdom tooth left... and to be honest it should have destroyed my molar and grown in about a year ago, but I don't even feel it(x-rays from 2 years ago show that the tooth is fully grown and directly under my molar). I think it grew into my jaw bone or something. I should get it check out.

      • When I "woke up" from having mine removed, I was about as high as I've ever been in my life. Apparently nitrous is a lot of fun.

        • Getting mine pulled wasn't so bad. It didn't hurt at all and I was back to eating solid food within a week. Probably the worst part about it was I got them pulled at boot camp, but I got to stay in my rack for three days. So it was all good.

        • I feel like everyone but me has a horrible experience with getting their wisdom teeth out...I didn't have any pain, was back to eating normal foods the next day, and didn't have any complications. Didn't take any antibiotics, or pain killers (Wasn't given any of either).

Oh, and the taste . . . are you having to regularly take anti-biotics (I think you should be, anyways)? And were you also prescribed some kind of mouthwash? You need to use both. I slacked on the mouthwash, 'cause it was painful to rinse with, and I uh, had a bit of fungus grow on my tongue because of that. Needless to say it caused a funny (aka disgusting) taste.

I had to get all 4 of mine out a few years ago. They were all impacted. It wasnt pleasant. My mouth hurt for a few days and i couldnt eat anything for about two days. I could barely sip on water. The next week was all apple sauce and pudding. I could barely open my mouth. I stuck with soft foods for about a month after. If you need to have yours out, do it sooner rather than later. Its best to get it over with quickly.

          • I need to get my wisdom teeth pulled soon...... just had a horrid swollen gum situation a few weeks back where I felt like my head was being squashed in a vice and was put on anti-biotics. Man I hate my teeth. Stupid teeth!

            • Umm . . . if there's a tooth fragment embedded in your gumline or something then go and have the oral surgeon remove it. In any case, yeah, it's pretty bad. But you'll be alright in a week or so.

I'm sure you'll be happy to know that my wisdom teeth surgery went much more smoothly than yours. Well I'm happy at least.

I remember getting mine pulled. Having an impacted one was such a terrible experience, didnt have much problems after they got pulled. But wow before that impacted one got pulled it was so painful.
