Plague and other catastrophes?
With the famous World Of Warcraft plague that swept through their servers, which resulted in the follow ups science reports written by the CDC on Pandemics and human interactions on how they spread and reacted to the crisis I began wondering if Bungie could inject a shared catastrophe across the Destiny Servers and how they would do so?
How would you react if suddenly Mars became a hot zone of some virtual disease and those infected suddenly became a serious threat to the main city. It would be a dilemma if those infected were suddenly subject to PVP rules and the uninfected had a green light to destroy on sight if infection was detected.
Your thoughts and what Catastrophe would you induce on the Shared experience of the Destiny Player population?

This would be pretty interesting, but probable will not happen. They want to promote player cooperation. If I was paranoid of getting some sort of debuff from infected players, then I would avoid everyone.

Okay so what about a something out of nature? We've talked a bit over infection, but what about some sort of natural disaster that effects weather. Like example Mars develops a two weeks sand storm battering all the locations we'll be exploring. Any Astronomers want to chime in on some of the horror the solar system is going to toss at us if Bungie and Activision decide to ramp up the shared experience?

it would have to be a later world, higher level. you wouldnt want newer people to go to it and all of a sudden other players are wipeing them

I wouldn't kill my infected guardian buddies. I'd send them on a suicide mission to the heart of the fallen/cabal head-quarters and let the disease run its course. Then we would just have space zombies and vex to concern ourselves with. IMO

I remember reading something about that on Cracked. People went to crazy lengths to keep that disease alive.

2 RepliesI don't think we'll see it, as I don't think it jives with the universe Bungie is trying to create. But it's definitely a cool idea.
