John Marston and Sev are the only ones I can think of that evoked a feeling of legitimate sadness when they died. I distinctly remember screaming "No, no, no, John, what are you doing. JOHN, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?"

    RDR/ME3 spoilers It's pretty interesting the way the difference between a John Marsden style character and a Commander Shepard one is just so distinct. I mean, when Marsden died, it made you feel sympathy for the tragic character, but when Shepard died it it just felt cheap, as though we'd been cheated.

  • Shep's death felt fitting to me. It didn't make me sad though.
